The United States does not intend to reopen the consulate in Wuhan

-

China is considering the possibility of closing the American consulate in Wuhan after Washington’s demand to close the PRC Consulate General in Houston. This was announced on Wednesday by Reuters.

Earlier, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced that the US authorities demanded to close the PRC Consulate General in Houston. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that the Chinese authorities will take the necessary measures if Washington does not abandon its demand.

US State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said the decision to close the Chinese diplomatic office in Houston was made “in order to protect American intellectual property and Americans’ personal data.”

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has not yet commented on information on possible measures against the US Consulate in Wuhan.
