US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has spoken out against a debate between Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and President Donald Trump.
“I don’t think there should be any debates. I do not think that the president of the United States has comported himself in a way that anybody should that has any association with truth, evidence, data and facts.”
According to Pelosi, instead of debating, candidates should simply answer the questions of the “American people” by speaking at different venues.
Trump has previously publicly called on Biden to debate on more than one occasion, arguing that he will not stand such a duel with him. Biden’s last debate was before the coronavirus pandemic with his party opponent Bernie Sanders. In addition, Biden shies away from talking to the press, leaving no time for questions and answers at the end of his speeches, as Trump has repeatedly pointed out.
Among other things, US President Donald Trump said in an interview with the Washington Examiner that he is going to urge him and the US Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden to be tested for drugs ahead of the first presidential debate, scheduled for September 29.
According to the newspaper, the president expressed suspicion of a “sudden improvement” in Biden’s speech at the debate during the Democratic primaries season and suggested that it was the result of drug use. At the same time, the president did not provide any evidence.
The US presidential election will be held on November 3. At the same time, opinion polls give the lead to Biden.
