Overview of today’s trading day:

Major stock indices around the world mostly experienced gains today, with indices in the Americas and APAC group mostly ending in the green. In the Europe group, indices mostly ended in the red. As for metals, Gold, Silver and Platinum all experienced significant gains while both Brent and Crude oil experienced losses. Lastly, crypto took a small hit, with each of the three included within experiencing declines.

Americas

In the Americas group, four out of five indices ended in the green today. The NASDAQ (+1.87%) led with an increase of almost two percent. Next up was the S&P 500 (+1.52%) at over one and a half percent followed by the S&P/TSX (+0.89%) with a gain of just under one percent. The worst performance from this group today, and the only index ending in the red, was the Bovespa (-0.13%) with a loss of just over a tenth of a percent.

Europe

In the Europe group, two out of five indices ended in the green come market close. Leading was the DAX (+0.57%) with a gain of over half a percent. This was followed by the Euro Stoxx (+0.03%), which managed to inch into the green today and become one of two indices experiencing gains. The biggest loss from this group was experienced by the FTSE (-0.90%), with a loss approaching one percent.

APAC

In the APAC group, five out of six indices ended in the green today. Leading the gains was the S&P/ASX (+1.43%) at just under one and a half percent. Next was the Nikkei (+1.33%) and SSE (+0.78%), with the former gaining over one percent and the latter less than one percent. The worst performance from this group today, and the only index ending in the red, was from the Sensex (-0.13%) with a loss of just over a tenth of a percent.

Commodities

Metals experienced green today with Gold (+0.96%), Silver (+2.82%) and Platinum (+2.48%) all ended significantly in the green today. The biggest increase was by Silver, which gained over two and a half percent. As for oils, Brent (-0.85%) and Crude (-0.82%) both experienced losses today with both losing nearly one percent. This left per barrel prices at around $42 for Brent and $40 for Crude.

Cryptocurrency

On the crypto front, each of the three experienced losses today. Ripple (-1.12%) saw the biggest loss of over one percent, resulting in a price change of $0.002 down to $0.176. Next, Ethereum (-0.44%) experienced the second biggest loss with a decline of just under half a percent translating to price change of $1 down to $225. Lastly, Bitcoin (-0.26%) experienced a decreased of a quarter percent, resulting in a price change of $24 down to $9134.
