Overview of today’s trading day:

Major stock indices around the world experienced mostly losses today, with each index in the Americas ending in the red as well as most in the Europe group. However, the APAC group experienced mostly gains. Commodities such as Gold, Silver and Platinum ended in the green while Brent and Crude oil ended in the red. As for crypto, BTC and ETH ended in the red while XRP remained relatively stable.

Americas

In the Americas group, each of the five indices ended in the red today. The biggest loss was taken by the Dow (-2.84%), which fell over two and three quarters of a percent. Next up was the NASDAQ (-2.59%) at over two and a half percent, the Bovespa (-2.42%) at just under two and a half percent, and finally the S&P 500 (-1.68%) at over one and a half percent. The best performance from this group today was by the S&P/TSX (-1.68%), which still managed to fall by over one and a half percent.

Europe

Over in the Europe group, four out of five indices ended in the red today. The only index ending in the green was the FTSE (+0.27%), which managed to gain over a quarter percent. The biggest hit in this group today was taken by the DAX (-0.73%), which fell roughly three quarters of a percent. Next, the SMI (-0.47%) and Euro Stoxx (-0.46%) were hit with losses just under half a percent each.

APAC

In the APAC group, five out of six indices ended in the green today. Leading the gains was the S&P/ASX (+1.49%) with roughly a one and a half percent gain. Next was the Nikkei (+1.13%) and KOSPI (+1.05%) with both indices gaining over one percent. The worst performance today and the only index ending in the red from this group was the Hang Seng (-0.93%), which fell nearly one percent come market close.

Commodities

Commodities such as Gold (+0.80%), Silver (+0.42%), and Platinum(+0.26%) all ended in the green, with Gold experiencing the biggest increase of over three quarters of a percent. As for oil, both Brent (-0.93%) and Crude (-1.50%) experienced declines, with the former declining by roughly one percent and the latter one and a half percent. This left per barrel prices at approximately $41 for Brent and $38 for Crude.

Cryptocurrency

On the crypto front, mostly losses were experienced today as two of the three included ended in the red. Ethereum (-1.71%) fell the most, with a loss over over one and a half percent resulting in a price change of $4 down to $234. Bitcoin (-1.28%) also took a hit, with a loss of over one and a quarter percent which meant a price change of $119 down to $9286. As for Ripple (0.00%), there was not a significant price change to the one logged 24 hours ago.
