Overview of today’s trading day:

Major stock indices mostly experienced losses today, with each index in the Americas and Europe group ending in the red today. As for the APAC group, half of the six indices ended in the red. Metals including gold, silver and platinum all declined while oil also fell significantly. Lastly, crypto also took a significant hit, with each of the three losing over three percent each in the last 24 hours.

In the Americas group, each of the five indices ended in the red, marking losses across the board. The biggest hit was taken by the Dow (-2.71%), which fell over two and a half percent. This was followed by the S&P 500 (-2.56%) and the NASDAQ (-2.19%), with the former losing over two and a half percent while the latter over two percent. The best performance was seen by the Bovespa (-1.40%), which lost close to one and a half percent.

In the Europe group today, each of the five indices ended in the red. The biggest loss was experienced by the DAX (-3.43%), which fell nearly three and a half percent. Next up was the Euro Stoxx (-3.11%) and the FTSE (-3.11%), both of which saw a loss of over three percent. The best performance from this group was seen by the sMI (-2.19%), with a loss over two percent come market close.

In the APAC group, three out of six indices ended in the green today. Leading was the KOSPI (+1.42%) with nearly a one and a half percent gain followed by the SSE (+0.30%). with a gain just under a third of a percent. The worst performance from this group today was seen by the Sensex (-1.58%), which fell over one and a half percent come market close.

As for commodities, metals including Gold (-0.34%), Silver (-2.64%), and Platinum (-5.48%) each experienced declines, with Platinum losing the most at around five and a half percent. Brent (-5.68%) and Crude (-5.99%) took a huge hit percentage wise, with the both oils losing over five percent today. This brought per barrel prices to approximately $40 for Brent and $38 for Crude.

On the crypto front, each of the three coins included within experienced losses in the last 24 hours. Ethereum (-4.10%) led with the biggest loss of over four percent, resulting in a price change of $10 leaving the price at $234. Next, Bitcoin (-3.54%) experienced a decline of over three and a half percent, which resulted in a price change of $341 and the price sinking down to $9299. Lastly, Ripple (-3.17%) took a hit losing over three percent, which brought the price down by $0.006 to $0.183.
