Overview of today’s trading day:

Major stock indices around the world mostly ended in the red today, with each index in the Europe group ending in the red while most of them in the APAC group did too. Every index from the Americas group, however, ended in the green. Metals including Gold, Silver and Platinum are in the green so far since their open along with Brent and Crude. As for crypto, each Bitcoin, Ethereum and Ripple experienced significant gains today.

Americas

In the Americas group, five out of five indices ended in the green today. Leading the gains was the Bovespa (+2.16%), which increased by over two percent. Next up was the NASDAQ (+1.42%) and the S&P 500 (+0.76%), with the former increasing by nearly one and a half percent while the latter by over three quarters of a percent. The weakest performance from this group today was experienced by the S&P/TSX (+0.2%), which still managed to gain a fifth of a percent come market close.

Europe

In the Europe group, five out of five indices ended in the red today. Taking the biggest hit was the CAC (-1.24%), with a loss of roughly one and a quarter percent. Next was the Euro Stoxx (-1.07%) down by over one percent followed by the DAX (-0.97%) with a fall just under one percent. The best performing index from this group today was the SMI (-0.29%), which fell by over a quarter percent come market close.

APAC

In the APAC group, two out of six indices ended in the green today. Leading was the SSE (+1.74%) with a gain of roughly one and three quarters of a percent. Next up was the Hang Seng (+0.59%) with a gain of over half a percent, and was the only other index to end in the green in this group. The worst performance from the APAC group today was by the S&P/ASX (-1.54%), which fell over one and a half percent. All other indices declined by less than one percent.

Commodities

As for commodities, metals including Gold (+0.47%), Silver (+2.37%) and Platinum (+2.07%) are each in the green so far since their open, with Silver changing the most by over two and a quarter percent. As for oil, Brent (+0.42%) and Crude (+0.59%) are also in the green so far at less than half a percent and over half a percent respectively. This brought per barrel prices at the time of writing to around $43 for Brent and $40 for Crude.

Cryptocurrency

On the crypto front, each of the three cryptos included within are in the green since their open at 00:00UTC. Ripple (+9.07%) is leading with an increase of over nine percent, resulting in the price of XRP going up to $0.2019. Next, Ethereum (+3.86%) is in the green by nearly four percent, which has brought the price of ETH up to $248. Lastly, Bitcoin (+1.84%) is up by nearly two percent so far, with a price of $9426 at the time of writing.
