Overview of today’s trading day:

Major stock indices around the world mostly ended in the red today, with all indices in the Europe group ending in the red while most in the Americas and half in the APAC group also experienced losses. Gold, Silver and Platinum are all down so far, while Brent and Crude oil are also in the red. Lastly, Bitcoin, Ethereum and Ripple are all in the red so far today.

Americas

In the Americas group, three out of five indices ended in the green today. The Dow (+0.73%) led the gains with over a half percent gain. Next up was the S&P 500 (+0.32%) and the Bovespa (+0.12%), with both indices gaining under half a percent. The worst performing index from this group was the S&P/TSX (-0.31%), which fell over a quarter percent come market close.

Leading the losses was the Euro Stoxx (-0.77%) followed by the FTSE (-0.75%), with both losing roughly three quarters of a percent. The best performance from this group was seen by the CAC (-0.64%) and SMI (-0.67%), with both indices losing under three quarters of a percent.

Next up was the S&P/ASX (+0.16%) and the Sensex (+0.1%), both of which gained less than a quarter percent come market close. The worst performance from this group today was seen by the KOSPI (-1.05%), which fell over one percent.

As for oil, Brent (-0.09%) and Crude (-0.85%) are both in the red with the latter down by just under one percent. Per barrel prices are at around $45.60 for Brent and $43.02 for Crude.

Cryptocurrency

On the crypto front, each of the three cryptos within are in the red so far. Ripple (-5.53%) is down the most by over five and a half percent, with XRP at around $0.2612. Next, Ethereum (-1.97%) is down roughly two percent, with the price of ETH sinking to around $378. Lastly, Bitcoin (-1.80%) is down over one and three quarters of a percent, resulting in the price of BTC falling to around $11,256.
