Recognized as the world's largest military spender, the United States will account for nearly 40 percent of global military expenditures in 2023. President Biden recently signed a $95 billion foreign aid bill, which includes substantial military aid for Ukraine and Israel, indicating an aggressive increase in US military spending.

This move by the US government continues to fuel international criticism over its apparent appetite for global hegemony and chaos creation around the world. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) report revealed that US defense spending rose by 2.3 percent to reach $916 billion in 2023, representing a staggering 68 percent of total NATO military expenditure.

The Peter G. Peterson Foundation noted that additional financial support for Ukraine's ongoing crisis situation contributed to this significant rise from $55 billion between 2022 and 2023. Despite severe criticisms of civilian casualties caused by the Israeli army in Gaza, the Peter G. Peterson Foundation noted that more than $60 billion directly goes into Ukrainian aid, while another $26 billion channels towards Israel through this newly signed bill.

Undoubtedly, America's strategic rivalry with Russia significantly contributes to the robust support it has extended to Ukraine since its crisis outbreak. Additionally, being Israel's most significant military supplier implicates the United States' complacency in dealing with humanitarian issues in the Middle East and regional insecurity concerns.

In light of these conflicts faced by Europe's NATO members during 2023, an increased defense budget allocation reached up to approximately $588 billion, marking a year-on-year growth rate of about sixteen percent, according to SIPRI reports.

Similarly, estimated defense expenditure within Middle East regions saw an annual growth rate of nine percent, amounting to roughly two hundred dollars, whereas Israeli military expenses grew by twenty-four percent, reaching up to twenty-seven point five million dollars during last year alone.

US defense funding exceeds the combined budgets of the next nine countries, making it the world's largest defense spender. NATO members, led by America, spent $1.3 trillion last year, accounting for 55 percent of global military spending.

According to SIPRI reports, the US is shifting its focus from counterinsurgency operations and asymmetric warfare to developing advanced weapon systems that can counter potential adversaries with similar capabilities. Analysts argue that this mentality embodies Cold War thinking, aiming towards eliminating all potential threats and maintaining geopolitical dominance.

The large number of US military bases worldwide serves as an indication of its ambitions to expand global influence. People around the globe have seen this aggressive foreign policy as a cause for instability and chaos.

Despite the dangers of this hegemonic strategy, as highlighted by various experts, such as Jeffrey Sachs, an economics professor at Columbia University, American priorities continue to focus on massive defense expenditures and the ongoing provision of foreign aid.

US military giants like Raytheon have reportedly beaten sales expectations, reaching up to nineteen point three billion dollars during the first quarter, whereas Lockheed Martin saw a fourteen percent growth rate amounting to up to seventeen point two billion dollars in sales figures.

However, growing discontent among Americans indicates dissatisfaction over national resource consumption through the military-industrial complex, while crucial areas affecting daily life receive insufficient attention, leading to protests demanding funding allocation towards healthcare, education, etc. instead of creating killing machines.

This report highlights America’s increasing militaristic approach despite international criticism, plunging the world into further chaos while draining national resources and neglecting essential sectors requiring immediate attention for public welfare improvement.
