The School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence at the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, Arizona State University, is pioneering research in various domains, including event-based vision (neuromorphic vision), artificial neural networks, sensors and multimodal sensing, and intelligent transportation systems. With a focus on these areas, we are excited to announce an open call for submissions to our Special Issue titled "Sensors and Sensing Technologies for Traffic, Driving, and Transportation," published under the Sensors journal.

Over recent years, advancements in sensor technology have revolutionized traffic management systems as well as driving experiences. Intelligent transportation systems (ITSs) now incorporate cutting-edge technologies like LiDAR (light detection and ranging), radar sensors, cameras, and V2X communication that have made modern vehicles increasingly autonomous while enhancing connectivity between them.

These technological developments have not only improved safety measures but also enhanced efficiency within smart transportation setups. Real-time traffic monitoring has become a reality due to these innovations, which further enable autonomous driving capabilities besides advanced driver-assistance systems (ADASs). Consequently, road safety standards have improved significantly alongside reducing congestion, leading to better overall travel experiences.

This Special Issue aims at featuring innovative research related to novel sensor development applied within computer vision disciplines, artificial intelligence platforms, or even sensor data processing techniques specifically used within ITSs and IVs contexts. We anticipate contributions from various fields where such sensory technologies find application primarily focused on facilitating smoother traffic management solutions besides their roles in driving assistance tools or broader transport mechanisms.

Manuscripts can be submitted online via www.mdpi.com; authors must register first before logging onto this site for submitting their works. The portal will remain open until the deadline set for submission, after which all entries passing preliminary checks will be sent ahead for peer review processes prior to publishing continuously in the journal upon acceptance by reviewers' panel members.

Research articles besides review papers are welcome, while short communications too get invited here; planned paper contributors may submit a title and short 100-word abstract to our editorial office for initial announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All submissions are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Detailed guidelines for authors, along with other relevant information concerning manuscript submission, is available at the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Authors are required to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs) towards publishing in this open-access journal; all submitted works must conform to good English standards besides being well formatted. For assistance regarding language editing prior to or during author revisions, please avail of MDPI's English editing service.
