A matchup of note is the New York Mets' Francisco Lindor against MacKenzie Gore of the Washington Nationals. Lindor has been in excellent form recently, especially against left-handed pitchers like Gore, boasting a .300 batting average and a 54.2% extra-base hit rate.
He also has impressive statistics against fastballs with an exit velocity over 95 mph, drawing eight walks in his last nine plate appearances. Given these numbers and considering that Gore has struggled this month against right-handed batters - allowing a .299 batting average and .455 slugging percentage - it sets up as a favorable situation for Lindor.
Adding to this is the fact that historically, Gore has had difficulty striking out Mets players; he maintains only a lowly 12.7% strikeout rate over 71 plate appearances. With all these factors combined, there's great potential for Lindor to make significant contributions at bat during tonight's game.
Another player who seems poised to do well today is Charlie Blackmon from Colorado Rockies who will face Bryse Wilson from Atlanta Braves at Coors Field – known for its hitter-friendly atmosphere. Recently, Blackmon’s performance on home turf has been commendable with him going over in 16 of his last twenty games.
Blackmon’s recent performances have shown promise particularly when facing right-handed pitchers such as Wilson; he went over in five out of six games. Moreover, Wilson struggles defensively against left-hand hitters which further strengthens Blackmon's prospects tonight.
The key factor here would be if Blackmon can get on base frequently enough because Ezequiel Tovar and Brenton Doyle are following him in line-up with strong adjusted batting averages themselves plus Ryan McMahon (also left-hander), whom Wilson typically struggles against follows them further down the lineup.
This means that not only does Blackman himself seem set up favorably but he could potentially pave way for subsequent batters too making this a bet worth considering.
Returning to the Mets vs Nationals game, Gore has had an impressive record this year with 14-2 in NRFIs and he remains strong at home holding a 9-1 record. The Mets' top four batters have struggled against him with just a .176 average which makes this matchup even more intriguing.
David Peterson, who will be pitching for the Mets also maintains an excellent NRFI record of 5-0 overall and 2-0 on road games. He faces a Nationals team that has been shut out in most of their first innings making his prospects look good too.
In conclusion, both Lindor and Blackmon seem like strong bets tonight given their recent form combined with the weaknesses of opposing pitchers they face. Furthermore, Gore’s impressive stats plus Peterson's solid performance make it likely that both teams may struggle offensively during early innings providing further betting opportunities.
