Caitlin Clark, the exceptional point guard for the Iowa Hawkeyes, has shattered many barriers in her college basketball career. Now she is poised to break another significant barrier—this time in professional sports—even before concluding her stint with the NCAA.

Ice Cube’s Big3 league has reportedly offered Clark a whopping $5 million to partake in their 3-on-3 half-court basketball competition. This move would make Clark the first woman ever to compete in this unique league that consists predominantly of former NBA players.

TMZ initially broke the news, and Ice Cube himself later confirmed it via Twitter. He tweeted: "BIG3 made a historic offer to Caitlin Clark. Why wouldn't we? Caitlin is a generational athlete who can achieve tremendous success in the BIG3." The proposed deal will not hinder any chances of playing for the WNBA after the 10-week Big3 season wraps up.

Back in January 2017, rapper-turned-businessman Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz announced their ambitious project, The Big3 League. They declared it an innovative platform that would showcase some of the best talents ever seen on a basketball court. They aimed to establish a league that prioritizes both entertainment and innovation, with a focus on the player.

Among several groundbreaking innovations introduced were three 4-point circles placed beyond the traditional 3-point line, which added more excitement to games. Since its inception, Big3 has been recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as the first-ever professional sports league certified as a black-owned and operated business entity.

Adding further diversity credentials under its belt, it became one of the few leagues to have female coaches within the male-dominated sports sector while also empowering diverse executives and entrepreneurs in top roles across various teams associated with it, thus setting new standards for inclusivity within the industry.

Moreover, unlike most other leagues out there today, the revenue sharing mechanism adopted by them ensures athletes take home a fair portion earned through collective efforts on the field. This league has attracted basketball legends like Dr. J., 'The Ice Man' George Gervin, Gary Payton, Allen Iverson, Lisa Leslie, and Stephen Jackson, among others, who have enthusiastically competed as coaches and players.

One of the many legendary figures brought into the fold is Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler, who now holds the esteemed position of Commissioner within the Big 3 League. By design, this unique venture sits at the intersection of sports entertainment and culture, thus creating a platform that not only showcases athletic prowess but also promotes diversity and inclusivity in the professional sports arena.

If Caitlin Clark accepts this historic offer from Big3, it would mark yet another milestone for women athletes worldwide while further reinforcing the progressive nature of this innovative league. It will be interesting to watch how things unfold for Clark in the coming weeks as she potentially prepares to make her grand entrance into the world of professional basketball via an unconventional route.
