MicrobioTx, a startup from Bengaluru specializing in gut health, announced on World Microbiome Day 2024 the launch of two new offerings. These include personal probiotics, which mark India's first prebiotic and probiotic blend individually tailored based on one's gut profile. The second offering is GutChat, a free chatbot focused on gut health for those interested in maintaining their digestive wellbeing.

The introduction of these services reflects significant advancements in how technology can democratize microbiome information for personal wellness.

In urban India, it is estimated that one out of every four individuals suffers from issues related to the gut. Factors contributing to this high prevalence rate include inadequate fiber intake, irregular eating habits, low water consumption levels, stress, and consuming processed foods rich in fat and oil content.

While there are many probiotics available for users to choose from currently on the market, they all follow standardization protocols, making it difficult to predict which will work best for an individual. However, with Personal Probiotics by MicrobioTx, this issue has been addressed as each product is handcrafted according to results obtained from a unique, patent-protected, clinically proven test conducted on an individual’s gut microbiome.

This innovative solution has been developed through over 15 years of research into the field of microbiomes and probiotics led by Dr. Palok Aich, Dean of R&D at NISER Bhubaneswar, who said, "We are so excited about science evolving to be available outside research labs." He further added, “Probiotics can be game changers like modern-day penicillin without any severe adversities."

MicrobioTx partnered with Alyve Health, Bridge Health, and Biomylz, aiming to expand awareness about personalized, affordable, and accessible solutions pertaining to gut health. Akanksha Gupta, co-founder, shared, “With this launch, we aspire towards becoming global leaders within probiotic sciences by adopting a personalized approach towards improving overall well-being.”

The company also announced the release of GutChat, a chatbot designed to answer queries about food's impact on the microbiome by browsing close to 1,000+ published articles. Gupta added that this was another step towards providing hyper-personalized wellness solutions.

Recently, MicrobioTx secured funding from Axilor Ventures for further product R&D, production capacity expansion, and sales engine development. Nidhi Mathur from Axilor acknowledged, "With lifestyle-related disorders on the rise and focus shifting towards overall wellness instead of merely treating illness, restoring gut health emerges as a crucial intervention for achieving holistic health." She lauded the founding team at MicrobioTx for combining deep scientific expertise with strategic business growth acumen.

About MicrobioTx: The startup aims to leverage gut and microbiome-related science to improve health outcomes across various chronic disorders. Their innovative approach seeks to make such science more personalized, affordable, and accessible via data-driven methods.
