Composite materials have gained considerable recognition in numerous engineering sectors due to their unique amalgamation of properties. These include high strength, reduced weight, and superior resistance to corrosion. The successful design and analysis of composite structures necessitate a thorough understanding of their intricate behavior. This can be accomplished through the use of advanced numerical modeling techniques.

The Center for Composite Materials and Structures at Harbin Institute of Technology is devoted to exploring these advancements in structural design and numerical modeling pertaining to composite materials.

The aim of this special issue is not only to provide an avenue for researchers and practitioners alike to disseminate state-of-the-art findings but also novel concepts, alongside innovative solutions that address challenges associated with the design as well as modeling aspects related to composite materials.

Contributions are invited on a broad spectrum of topics that encompass but are not limited to material characterization specific to composites, failure analysis procedures, various modeling techniques employed in the field, multiscale models used for more accurate results, and experimental validation studies.

We encourage researchers globally from relevant fields or those who show interest in developing new insights into the design aspect combined with numerical modeling approaches concerning composite materials; they are welcome wholeheartedly to submit original research articles along with review papers.

The submission process includes registering online at www.mdpi.com, followed by logging onto our website using your registered credentials. Once registration is complete, you will be directed to the submission form, where manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline date specified separately for each topic under this special issue section.

All submissions passing pre-checks undergo a peer-review procedure before being accepted for publication within our journal (as soon as they're approved), while simultaneously being listed on our special issue webpage dedicated specifically to promoting the latest research contributions made in this category worldwide. Research articles, including review ones, plus short communications too, find a place here, inviting planned paper authors willing enough to send a title accompanied by a short abstract (around 100 words) to the Editorial Office, enabling announcements over its site page later on after acceptance.

Kindly note that manuscripts submitted should not have been published previously nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts undergo a rigorous single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors, along with other relevant information concerning manuscript submission, can be found on the Instructions for Authors page.

Materials is an internationally recognized peer-reviewed open-access semimonthly journal proudly published by MDPI. The Article Processing Charge (APC) levied towards publication within this open access journal amounts to 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). It's imperative that all submitted papers are well formatted and reflect the usage of good English language standards. Authors could opt to avail of MDPI's English editing service either prior to or during the author revision phase, ensuring high-quality submissions meeting our publishing standards.
