Saladino's approach to health and longevity is refreshingly simple. In a world where "biohackers" are constantly sharing their expensive and often unproven anti-aging regimes, Saladino focuses on mastering the basics for better health. He believes that dedicating just 10 to 15 minutes a day to the right activities can make a big difference in how you feel.

One of Saladino's key pieces of advice is to focus on building muscle. He sees muscle as "body armor" that can help keep people healthy and independent as they age. Muscle loss with age, known as sarcopenia, can be prevented by strength training and eating a high-protein diet. Building muscle not only makes you stronger but also strengthens your bones, making you less likely to fall or suffer fractures.

However, Saladino warns against pushing yourself too hard in every workout session. It's important to find the right balance between challenging yourself and overdoing it. Instead of going full throttle all the time, he advises finishing each set feeling like you could do one to three more reps. This way, you're pushing yourself without risking injury or burnout.

In addition to strength training, Saladino emphasizes the importance of getting enough sleep. He acknowledges that while waking up early requires discipline, going to bed early requires even more discipline. Getting sufficient sleep is essential for overall health and crucial if you have fitness goals or are trying to lose weight.

When it comes to nutrition, Saladino encourages eating a varied diet rich in fiber along with protein, carbs, and fats. Fiber-rich vegetables are particularly important for cleaning out our bodies and ensuring we get enough vitamins and minerals. While most people focus on protein, carbs, and fats (the three macronutrients), Saladino believes fiber should be considered the fourth macronutrient due to its importance for overall health.

Saladino also stresses the benefits of walking for health and longevity. Simply incorporating more steps into your daily routine can have significant benefits for your well-being. Walking not only helps improve physical fitness but also reduces sedentary behavior associated with various health risks.

Overall, Saladino's approach underscores the power of simplicity when it comes to achieving optimal health and longevity. By focusing on basic activities like strength training, adequate sleep, and balanced nutrition, including plenty of fiber-rich foods like vegetables and walking regularly, anyone can improve their quality of life without resorting to expensive fads or extreme measures.
