Planet Holidays, one of the UK's leading tour operators, along with its sister company Planet Weddings, are predicting a surge in demand for Cypriot weddings, honeymoons, and holidays in 2024/25. This comes as a result of the premiere of a new romantic comedy set on the island, which was launched on Netflix on July 19, 2024.

The film titled 'Find Me Falling' stars Harry Connick Jr., who plays aging rock star John Allman. The character decides to take a break from his career to rediscover his passion for music. With Cyprus serving as an enchanting backdrop and filled with vibrant characters, writer/director Stelana Kliris narrates an endearing story about this washed-out rock star trying to reclaim his mojo.

Kliris describes her film as a "love letter to Cyprus." It’s not just about romantic love but encompasses various forms such as family love and lifelong dreams, all portrayed against the stunning landscape of Cyprus.

Planet Weddings caters to eight European destinations, including Cyprus, while Planet Holidays offers luxurious hotel accommodations, including boutique hotels and villas in both Greece and Cyprus. Their services range from pre-planned packages to tailor-made holiday experiences that include honeymoons.

Planet Weddings provides comprehensive wedding planning services, covering civil ceremonies or church weddings alongside same-sex or gay marriages, following local laws in each country they operate within.

Cyprus is often considered synonymous with romance due to its connection with Aphrodite—the Ancient Greek Goddess of Love and Beauty—who, according to myth, was born at Petra tou Romiou, located on Paphos’ southwest coast. As per legend, Aphrodite emerged from sea foam, marking her arrival onto land via seashell, which has since positioned Cyprus as symbolizing eternal love.

Recent research suggests that over half (55%) of British couples would prefer marrying abroad than locally. In fact, there has been an approximately 27% increase over the past five years in couples opting for overseas weddings. One of the significant factors influencing this choice is the cost, with an average overseas wedding costing £6,500 compared to a UK wedding, which costs around £21,000.

Mathilde Robert, Managing Director of Planet Weddings, stated that "Overseas weddings are gaining popularity, especially given the current economic situation, as they offer better value and reliable weather conditions. With 'Find Me Falling' now being streamed on Netflix, we predict increased interest in Cypriot weddings and holidays due to its portrayal of Cyprus’s picturesque beauty."

The starting price for an overseas wedding in Paphos starts at just £770, which covers paperwork and license fees both in the UK and at the resort, along with the presence of a wedding coordinator during the ceremony, including documentation and a marriage certificate. Additional charges apply for extras like flowers and reception arrangements, among others.

Planet Holidays also provides a wide range of hotel choices across Greece and Cyprus, allowing family members or friends to join couples's celebrations or simply enjoy a romantic holiday getaway. They currently have an offer running where a one-week holiday stay at the 4-star Athena Beach Hotel in Cyprus starts at just £865 per person.
