The conversation emphasizes the importance of gender equality and women's empowerment in India, especially considering its vast population. The realization that innovations are increasingly emerging from global south countries challenges the traditional perception that these nations must look to the west for learning and progress. Digital technology adoption has rapidly spread in regions like Africa and India, bypassing conventional infrastructure like landlines.

Technology plays a crucial role in empowering women by providing access to education, healthcare services, business opportunities, and more. Platforms like Tech Equity offer digital training resources for rural women to enhance their technical skills. Digital skills can also alleviate issues concerning safety during long-distance travel for educational or work purposes.

Despite the numerous benefits offered by technology, it remains critical to address certain barriers that prevent optimal utilization of this tool for gender equality. These include financial independence and health-related concerns, which can be mitigated through initiatives such as telemedicine services.

UN Women continues to support governmental efforts towards achieving gender commitments on various platforms, including G20 working groups where they provide technical assistance. An example of this commitment is demonstrated through programs like Second Chance Education, aimed at helping girls and women return to school while simultaneously improving their business skills with digital training components.

India's push towards gender equality is commendable, with significant milestones such as the Women’s Reservation Bill being passed, a move set to increase female representation within Parliament significantly without waiting another generation.

The discussion ends on an optimistic note, highlighting India's impressive leadership at the G20 summit, where focus was placed on 'Women-Led Development', a first ever amongst both the G20 and G7 forums. Notably mentioned is the Delhi Declaration, where principles of gender equality and female empowerment have been integrated throughout its framework, reflecting successful advocacy from UN Women representatives alongside other stakeholders involved in promoting equal rights and opportunities for all genders across diverse societies globally.
