The DMCC AI Centre is the latest addition to Dubai's innovative platforms, designed to promote the practical application of artificial intelligence (AI) and develop use cases that can be scaled across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). This announcement comes from DMCC, a free zone established by the Government of Dubai Authority with an emphasis on commodities trade and enterprise.

During its launch event, representatives from DMCC briefed over 60 guests about the center’s offerings. Attendees included Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation; Dr. Marwan Alzarouni, Chief AI Officer at Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; ambassadors; government ministers; AI companies; as well as other industry stakeholders.

Khalfan Belhoul underscored the UAE's commitment towards becoming a global leader in AI by 2031 through their National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence. He described this new development as a major milestone that would attract new businesses, foster innovation, and confirm Dubai's status as an international hub for emerging technologies such as AI.

Located within two floors of DMCC's headquarters in Uptown Tower, this newly integrated hub will join existing technology ecosystems like the Crypto Center and Gaming Centre under DMCC’s umbrella. Equipped with world-class facilities such as advanced co-working spaces, high-tech meeting rooms, and an exclusive showroom for showcasing various applications of artificial intelligence solutions, it promises to offer members more than just space.

DMCC currently houses over 50 robotics and AI firms worldwide, including AMD and Autel Robotics, among others. As part of its wider value proposition strategy for providing comprehensive services pertaining to artificial intelligence, several leading names have come onboard, officially partnering with them.

Builder.ai, a globally renowned custom software and app developer, will assist members in developing apps using state-of-the-art technologies, while AGGC-based out UAE plans on conducting accelerator programs aimed at attracting best-in-class tech talents from across the globe willing to scale up their ideas.

An event scheduled for October at Expand North Star in Dubai will see DMCC and AGGC partnering to organize a competition with a prize pool worth US$100,000. The aim is to encourage start-ups to develop practical, sustainability-focused AI solutions that can be scaled up in the GCC region.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, expressed his excitement about this new initiative, stating that artificial intelligence has the potential of adding over US$15 trillion to the global economy by 2030. He further added, "As we scale up these technologies and attract new service providers, these benefits will be extended to both AI and non-AI companies, creating a multiplier effect for DMCC's business district and our community as a whole."

Sachin Dev Duggal from Builder.ai shared similar sentiments, expressing belief in the power of AI as an industry transformer. Through their partnership with DMCC, they hope to help businesses tap into advanced technology, driving real growth on scalable levels.
